Nehemiah 7:1-3
by Susanne Moore

January is the perfect month to consider remaining faithful and growing. It is like a steppingstone for jumping into our future. If we can hold onto the lessons in the past, and intentionally hold to our faith we can make proper steps to realize growth.
I have learned some really valuable lessons in life through some pretty awful experiences. But I have also grown exponentially through those experiences and learned to recognize red flags, behavior, good or evil, truth or lie. It is so important to remember and constantly be vigilant.
When growing your faith, one of the most valuable lessons I have learned is to always back up anything you learn with scripture. You go and read it yourself. Read commentaries, study context around it and know what you believe. A red flag is the Holy Spirit prompting your spirit.
If scripture backs it up it is truth. If it doesn’t it is not, No matter how you feel about it. Remember feelings can be very deceitful. Especially when we are lonely or vulnerable.
Also to continue growing you need to be working towards something. Stagnation Is when we just sit there and do nothing. There will be days of stagnation. But when you’re moving towards a goal or a purpose you will have little miracles happen in your life. What is a little miracle? A check comes in the mail that you didn’t expect and you needed food. You get a big life sale that you weren’t expecting to get which provides for you. You’re feeling down and a random person compliments you. The growing is in the small things not just the big things. Remaining faithful and continually asking God to be on your journey with you will substantially perpetuate you forward. Let’s make 2024 a year of growth and faithfulness.
Lord Thank you for the example of Nehemiah’s faithfulness and the visual of growth as they rebuilt. Thank you for joining us in this new year as we work towards continually becoming new and finding balance with you as our center.
