BONUS 1: Recount What God has Done for You

Nehemiah 7:5-Nehemiah 8:1-37

Recounting means to narrate or maybe itemize what has happened. Retell a story. To continue growing it truly helps to go back and remember God’s faithfulness to you.

I consider this a bonus step in Becoming New and really important in finding Balance. Why?

Because if we forget where we have been, we also can quickly fall into old patterns. Because the past shows the growth patterns of our life and keeps our spirits fresh. Because remembering brings God’s love, grace and transformation to life so we know without a doubt He was with us, cultivating and refining our souls.

Nehemiah 7:5 all the way through the end of Nehemiah 8 he recounts. He recounts all those who had been returned from exile, and where they had been exiled. He names them by name the men of Israel, Levites, priests, Temple servants, the sons of Solomon and more. They celebrated. They sang. They gave. Then they made their new residence back in the their true home.

That is alot of recounting. God does this alot through the Bible because everything in scripture is true and matters and has purpose. How many of us relate through stories retold for generations?

What did God do for you in 2023? How about through the years? What happened that helped you grow good or bad?

I personally love recounting and I think you will too. I do not ever want to fall into old patterns and I love the examples we have in the word of God to remind us how important it is to remember, and keep growing.

Join me for another bonus lesson in Nehemiah as we continue to Become New and learn how to spread our wings across all the compartments of our life in balance.
