Our Spiritual Walk with Jesus
Matthew 6:33
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

Life is such a balancing act, isn’t it? If there is one thing I have learned in my fifty-five years of life, God must be front and center. The balance is keeping all those plates spinning around your heart, while keeping your faith at the core of all your decisions, all your relationships, all your emotions, work, ministry and fun. Simple right?
In Matthew 6:25 it talks about not being anxious. All of the things we have to balance can bring worry, frustration, and sometimes even mental torment. We experience this because we teeter on an axis that is out of proportion. We fail to have our safety net in place as we walk the tightrope of life, fearing the unknown, rushing to please, screaming to be heard, worrying about perfection, struggling to breath.
Matthew 6:27 “Which of you being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
I believe that the key to balance is understanding the foundation on which we must counterbalance our instability. We are sinners, saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus. We are imperfect, only made righteous in Him. We are broken, He makes us whole. Without Jesus we are lost, and when we find ourselves out of control, lost, anxious, selfish and feeling the tension, the only way to stop the spinning is reach for Jesus. The cross is our axis.
There is a moment when reality is so frightening that I am desperate enough to just grasp the edge of my Savior’s robe and trust in His grace. This is when you feel that tugging, the pressure building, the shiver up your spine, the warning in your spirit, The Holy Spirit pulling you back to center.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Oh, to trust Him more, to rely on Him more, to lean into His sovereignty, to ask Him before I take a step, to relinquish control over my out-of-control life; can you even imagine the peace?
One of my favorite verses in scripture (ok I might have more than a few) is Deuteronomy 2:3 “Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have been traveling around this mountain country long enough. Turn northward.”
In other words, the insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over expecting a different result. We want what we want, right?
My challenge: Let’s turn north. Let’s seek Jesus first and then manage those other things through the lens of our Savior and see if we just find the calming of our internal storm. He walks on water; we drowned without Him?
Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”
Dear Lord Jesus, please walk with us as we seek stability in our instability, balancing everything on you as our axis.
We will work on balancing our life centered on Jesus the rest of the year. I hope you will join me.
