Improvement is Revival

Do you intentionally work on improving yourself?

Status quo is never an option for me. I did life backwards. Kids then college. What I love about my scenario was fully understanding the value of learning, education, thriving. To take care of my family, I had to work on improving my skills, how I handled life, provision etc.

I do an inventory every year of how I have improved, how I have fallen backwards, where I am frozen and how I can move forward. This is an empowering exercise in growth. It will energize you to move.

This year I was status quo on a few things:

  1. Weight
  2. Writing my book
  3. House improvements

This year I fell backwards on a few things:

  1. Swimming regularly, health habits
  2. Paying off debt not creating it
  3. Writing regularly

This year I moved forward on a few things:

  1. Serving the Lord praise team, ladies group
  2. Sales goals
  3. Setting good boundaries

There is much more… To improve your life you have to know where you are now. So take time to do inventory. It really helps you figure out where to go in all areas; spiritually, physically, financially, emotionally. Set smart goals that are attainable but not so easy. Set future goals.

Sit with each goal and chart a path. Pray about it and ask God for direction. Most important step ever to make sure God is in step with you. If he is not, take it off your list.

I felt a tug to move in a direction God clearly did not want me to go and I am Thankful for his direction. He shut the door.

Let me give you an example of one improvement I am currently making.

Writing has become an issue because the visibility of my screens, the desk is a little too high, the lights are not bright enough. So I am in the middle of making changes. I bought a new desk that can be adjusted,  a large computer screen that I can connect my laptop to with an HDMI chord. Then I bought an LED light I can attach to the desk and adjust. It will all be set up by this weekend. Creating a new space that will optimize my ability to work. Now I can move forward.

Financially I set goals to pay down debt, not buy clothes, and to make updates on my home that are much needed. I have paid off several things already and its only the 22nd of January. I cancelled a vacation to do this.

I am excited about this journey forward to improve my life. How can you take steps to improve your life? How can I help you move forward? Do you feel stagnated. Take one step forward today.

Do not let your failings take over. I did not get to swim much so far this week. It is ok. Keep moving. Ill swim tonight then buckle down for snow megeden and do something in the house. Itll be ok.

Jesus we need you. Revive our souls. Help us make improvements in our life that are in line with your hope and future. Keep us accountable and hold us close. Amen

Stay Beautiful,

Susanne
